    Buses bombed and human parts
    Towers bombed and human hearts
    spread, sprayed, and scattered.
    Men unknown by men unknown.

    How halt this hatred
    darkness of fanatics
    crazy in their attics
    cellars stinking and
    dungeons of the soul
    all black?

    Darken glimmers
    false enlightenment,
    "this is what God wants,
    or history wants,
    or the nation's spirit wants."

If God wants this, I want not Him.

    Mind deceived by self,
    Heart twisted by hate.

    How do they sleep?
    Well, I fear.

    Cancelled - a stamp
    with black ink showing date,
    place, sometimes country

    Cancelled - a flight
    to somewhere
    some town, some land.

    Cancelled - a meeting
    that might
    have changed my life.

    Cancelled - a page
    in life's book,
    replaced by another.

    Cancelled - a check
    overdrawn on life's

    Cancelled. Cancelled.

    The End.
